In these days before professional rugby, before the Premier League, indeed before the Courage Leagues, clubs played eachother on a regular basis season in season out. Apart from the Cup competitions and often on International weekends one could more or less rely on the same fixture each year on a home one year , away the next basis.
Friendly club rugby, albeit with regular rivalry.
By 1985, Blackheath was still considered a top club. It had hiostory and tradition, however one expected Wasps to win.
One memory I have from this game is one Blackeath supporter exhorting his team on to win with the cy.
"Come on Club!"
