London Division v New Zealand All Blacks back in 1983.
My first season of Fleet Street rugby. Although I had been photographing Wasps and Saracens for my immediate local papers in North West London as well as Harlequin, Richmond, London Scottish, London Welsh, and Rosslyn Park for their local papers for several seasons, this was probably the first 'Big' game I covered, and certainly the first time I photographed the All Blacks.
What a great game it was too. More than half the London side were Wasps players, and the All Blacks were pretty powerful too. Sadly Murray Mexted was withdrawn, so I never got to photograph him, despite him being in the starting team sheet in the programme.
London were in the lead for much of the game and indeed the final score was 15-18, the All Blacks only getting it by three points.
Streaking was still a popular thing so this match got a streaker too.
